One Day Floors “Pure Bred” Polyaspartic (ODF Aspartic) technology was the the only solution for this ailing
St. Paul garage floor.
Joe Sheehan based in St. Paul Minnesota is one of the masterminds behind theOne Day Floors system. One Day Floors uses only climate controlled precision blending by Bayer Material Sciences to ensure only the highest quality Polyaspartic on the market. It might cost a little more than competing Polyasrtics but is blended with only superior ingredients and never diluted.
When applied by trained and certified One Day Floors professionals clients are getting a floor with superior benefits, the result of years of field testing and scientific research. This is the most technologically advanced coating available for residential and commercial floors. Joe Sheehhan stresses quality control ensuring that customers get the assurance of quality, credibility, consistancy and accountability.
In this case study you will see a project completed by Joe Sheehans team in One Day. Yes, due to the fast cure of Pure Bred Polyaspartics a floor under 1,000 square feet can be applied in one day, driven on the next, providing years low maintenance use.
St. Paul Garage Floor
Ths project is approximately 500 square feet. An attached residential 2 car garage built in 1956. The garage was the final room left in a remodel and the client couldn’t wait to remedy this eyesore.
Two contractors were first called in to quote the project. One didn’t have the expertise, the other only felt comfortable with an extremely high price and no guarantees.
When Joe Sheehan was called in he utilized his tool box of technical gadgets to properly test the floor. After analysis Joe was able to give the client a price, date and decorative solution that he felt comfortable standing behind for numerous years to come..
St. Paul Garage Floor - Application Steps
Step 1 - In this photo Tony DeHaven is working with his assistant John Vasquez grinding the concrete surface. There were 3 old failed coatings that needed to be removed. Then the floor needed to to ground to a level surface properly opening the pores of the concrete. At this point the floor needed to be tested to ensure there weren’t contaminents in the concrete that could be bond breakers. This is part of the One Day Floors system, PPS, Prep Perfect System.

Step 2 - In this photo Tony and John used a high speed grinder and 7 inch upright edge grinder to get a smoothlevel finish right up to the wall.. As in the previous photo they used high powered field tested vacuums to keep dust to an absolute minimum.
Step 3 - Because the concrete was spalling in certain areas Tony and John used a hand held jack hammer to remove old debris exposing good cement. Anything loose was removed and patched with One Day Floors patching system.
Step 4 - In this picture you see the dark patches which is the One Day Floors patch product. This proprietary patch system penetrates the concrete stopping the alkalinity, preventing any further deterioration of the concrete. This is also one of the most important functions of Pure Bred Polyaspartics.. They serve as a pentrating sealer stopping moisture and salts that cause coating failures. Because Pure Bred Polyaspartics absorb into the concrete they become part of the floor. Epoxies and overlays merely stick to concrete and will eventually lose the battle and deteriorate as no doubt you have seen. The properties of ODF Aspartics are unique. They win the battle against moisture and alkalinity.
Step 5 - In this photo of the St. Paul garage floor Tony and John use a 20 inch grinder to remove the final lattence (top concrete layer) and level the floor. The surface preparation was extreme in this case. If you look closely you can see they grinded the floor exposing the aggregate in the concrete.. Sometimes this is the effort required to do the floor right. It’s called the One Day Floors Prep PerfectSystem,PPS. Important point - this is
the level of quality of OneDay Floors professionals. Cutting corners leads to loss of certification and right to purchase product.
Step 6 - The final steps of the St. Paul garage floor prep system is application of the the Pure Bred Poly’s. The first coat “wets” into the concrete becoming part of the floor. Then the second coat is applied quickly followed with a fullbroadcast of decorativechips. Finally the last coatis applied resultingin a clear, decorative, high performance easy to clean glossy floor.
As you can see surface preparation is critical and time consuming. However in this case Joe Sheehan Tony and John delivered what they promised, a One Day Floor.
